All-Stars FAQ's and Policy

All-Stars FAQ's and Policy

FAQS:

Q: What should my player wear to tryouts?

A: Please have your player wear their Spring Baseball game uniform

Q: Is it mandatory that I register my player for tryouts?

A: We encourage you to register your player in advance of the tryout so the Coach can better plan for the tryout, as well as the Board of Directors can determine if an age group may be eligible for two (2) teams.

Q: Do I need to attend both tryout dates?

A: You must attend one (1) tryout date. However, we recommend that you attend both tryout dates so that the Coach can have as much exposure to your player as possible.

Q: Will there be two (2) teams per age group?

A: Some age groups may have enough players to field two (2) All Stars teams. Players must attend tryouts for the Indians team to be eligible for selection to the Tribe team.

Q: Which age group should my player try out for?

A: Your player needs to try out in the age group they are registered in for Spring. If your player plays in the 11/12 age group, but they are registered as an 11-year-old, they need to try out for the 11U team.

Q: Is All Stars right for my player?

A: If you’re looking for your player to be challenged and compete against other elite talents in the Metro Atlanta area, then All Stars is a great fit for your player.

Q: How much does All Stars cost?

A: Costs can range anywhere between $700 to $900 per player without sponsorship. This will be dependent on the number of tournaments and age group for each team. We encourage teams to gather sponsors and hold fundraisers to help offset the costs of All Stars.

Q: What is the expected time commitment for All Stars?

A: You can expect to have 2 to 3 practices per week and play in 5 to 7 weekend tournaments during the months of May – July.

All-Stars Policy

SELECTION PROCESS

1. All Stars teams may be selected for age groups 5-14. Formations of All Stars teams may  depend on interest and turnout at tryouts. This is at the sole discretion of the Board of  Directors.

2. Any child interested in playing on an All Stars team is required to attend at least one  assessment that will be held prior to team selection. Any child unable to attend  assessments will need special approval from Board of Directors to be eligible for an All  Stars team.

3. The assessments are open to any eligible player interested in participating in summer All  Stars.

4. There will be two separate assessments conducted in for the Indians All Stars team, in  order to give every player the opportunity to attend at least one. There will be at least one  assessment for the Tribe All Stars team if an age group qualifies for a Tribe team.

5. For a Tribe All Stars team to be considered at least 30 players from the age group must attend at least one assessment for the Indians All Stars team.

6. After assessments, the head coach of each Spring Rec team in that age group will submit a  list of their Top 6 players to the Board of Directors. Only head coaches that are present at  the assessments will be included in the selection process. The Coach list will be used to  determine a portion of the team, combined with the approved All Stars head coach  selections.

7. Upon selection of teams, the head coach from each age group will contact all parents that  participated in All Stars assessments, and communicate whether or not the player has  been selected.

1. All age groups that participate in summer All Stars tournament baseball must comply with  South Cherokee Baseball by-laws, policies and procedures, and organizational rules. The  Board of Directors will approve the formation of any All Stars team.

If he/she declines the younger age group’s offer, they will not be allowed to play  All Stars for that season. The only exception to this rule is if there are not enough players to  form multiple teams in those combined age groups.

Example: Player decides to quit the 7U Summer Indians All Stars team and join the 8U Summer Indians All Stars team. This will not be allowed. If you  commit to playing on a specific All Stars team, that is your team for the entire summer  season. If you decide to leave that team for any reason, then your summer All Stars season  is over for that particular year.

6. Teams will consist of no more than 12 players. South Cherokee Board of Directors approval  is needed to add additional players.
