All-Stars Policy
SELECTION PROCESS
1. All Stars teams may be selected for age groups 5-14. Formations of All Stars teams may depend on interest and turnout at tryouts. This is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.
2. Any child interested in playing on an All Stars team is required to attend at least one assessment that will be held prior to team selection. Any child unable to attend assessments will need special approval from Board of Directors to be eligible for an All Stars team.
3. The assessments are open to any eligible player interested in participating in summer All Stars.
4. There will be two separate assessments conducted in for the Indians All Stars team, in order to give every player the opportunity to attend at least one. There will be at least one assessment for the Tribe All Stars team if an age group qualifies for a Tribe team.
5. For a Tribe All Stars team to be considered at least 30 players from the age group must attend at least one assessment for the Indians All Stars team.
6. After assessments, the head coach of each Spring Rec team in that age group will submit a list of their Top 6 players to the Board of Directors. Only head coaches that are present at the assessments will be included in the selection process. The Coach list will be used to determine a portion of the team, combined with the approved All Stars head coach selections.
7. Upon selection of teams, the head coach from each age group will contact all parents that participated in All Stars assessments, and communicate whether or not the player has been selected.
TEAMS
1. All age groups that participate in summer All Stars tournament baseball must comply with South Cherokee Baseball by-laws, policies and procedures, and organizational rules. The Board of Directors will approve the formation of any All Stars team.
2. Only players that participate in the spring season shall be eligible for summer All Stars teams. These players must have played in no less than seventy-five (75) percent of his teams scheduled games, including tournament play.
3. For combined age group leagues, the younger age group team will be chosen prior to the older age group team. Example: If an 11 year old player is asked to play for the 11U All Star team, he/she must play for that team. He/she cannot decline the 11U team to play for the 12U team. If he/she declines the younger age group’s offer, they will not be allowed to play All Stars for that season. The only exception to this rule is if there are not enough players to form multiple teams in those combined age groups.
4. A player is not allowed to leave one All Stars team and join another All Stars team in the same summer season. Example: Player decides to quit the 7U Summer Indians All Stars team and join the 8U Summer Indians All Stars team. This will not be allowed. If you commit to playing on a specific All Stars team, that is your team for the entire summer season. If you decide to leave that team for any reason, then your summer All Stars season is over for that particular year.
5. If a player chose to play up in age group during Spring Rec ball, he/she cannot play down an age group for All Stars. Example: A six year old played up in the 7u age group for Spring Rec, but wants to play 6U All Stars. He/she is only eligible to play on the 7U All Stars team.
6. Teams will consist of no more than 12 players. South Cherokee Board of Directors approval is needed to add additional players.
7. All Stars teams will adhere to the rules set forth by Braves Country and South Cherokee Baseball. Intentional violation of these rules will result in an emergency meeting from Board of Directors, and possible removal of the head coach.
8. As per Braves Country rules, players who have transferred into South Cherokee Baseball for Spring Rec ball, and played All Stars for another park in the previous calendar year, are eligible for play All Stars for South Cherokee Baseball.
9. All South Cherokee All Stars team bank accounts will function separate from South Cherokee Baseball Association. Team bank accounts need to have 2 different names on the account that are un-related. No family members or spouses should be listed together on the account.
