Fall Select Policy
SELECTION PROCESS
1. Fall Select teams may be selected for age groups 7U-14U. Formations of Fall Select teams may depend on interest and turnout at tryouts. This is at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.
2. Any child interested in playing on a Fall Select team is required to attend at least one assessment that will be held prior to team selection. Any child unable to attend assessments will need special approval from the Board of Directors to be eligible for a Fall Select team.
3. The assessments are open to any eligible player interested in participating in Fall Select.
4. There will be one to two assessments conducted for the Fall Select team depending on need and availability.
5. Only one Fall Select Team Per Age Group.
6. Upon selection of teams, the head coach from each age group will contact all parents that participated in Fall Select assessments and communicate whether the player has been selected or not.
TEAMS
1. All age groups that participate in Fall Select tournament baseball must comply with South Cherokee Baseball by-laws, policies and procedures, and organizational rules. The Board of Directors will approve the formation of any Fall Select team.
2. Players that played at South Cherokee for the prior Spring season are eligible to try out for only the Select Team without having to play Fall Rec League. Players that are new to the park and are interested in playing Select will also be required to play in Fall Rec alongside Select.
3. For combined age group leagues, the younger age group team will be chosen prior to the older age group team. Example: If an 11 year old player is asked to play for the 11U Fall Select team, he/she must play for that team. He/she cannot decline the 11U team to play for the 12U team. If he/she declines the younger age group’s offer, they will not be allowed to play Fall Select for that season. The only exception to this rule is if there are not enough players to form multiple teams in those combined age groups.
4. A player is not allowed to leave one Fall Select team and join another Fall Select team in the same season. Example: Player decides to quit the 7U Fall Select team and join the 8U Fall Select team. This will not be allowed. If you commit to playing on a specific Fall Select team, that is your team for the entire season. If you decide to leave that team for any reason, then your Fall Select season is over for that particular year.
5. Players must be eligible to play in their correct age group. For example, if a player’s birthdate has he/she eligible to play in 8u Rec, they can not play down in 7u Select. If the player wishes to play up in an older age group, they must submit a request to the South Cherokee Board of Directors.
6. Teams will consist of no more than 12 players. South Cherokee Board of Directors approval is needed to add additional players.
7. Fall Select teams will adhere to the rules set forth by Braves Country and South Cherokee Baseball. Intentional violation of these rules will result in an emergency meeting from the Board of Directors, and possible removal of the head coach from the team.
8. As per Braves Country rules, players who have transferred into South Cherokee Baseball for Spring Rec ball, and played All Stars for another park in the previous calendar year, are eligible to play Fall Select for South Cherokee Baseball as long as they are registered for Fall Rec.
9. All South Cherokee Fall Select team bank accounts will function separately from the South Cherokee Baseball Association. Team bank accounts need to have 2 different names on the account that are unrelated. No family members or spouses should be listed together on the account.
10. As of December 15th each year, Fall Select teams are considered disassembled. All team bank accounts must be closed or frozen by December 15th of that year, and appropriate financial reconciliation (P&L) submitted to the Board of Directors, if requested.
HEAD COACHES
1. All head coaches and assistant coaches can apply to the Baseball Director for appointment as a Fall Select coach. Preference may be granted in the following order: a) Returning coach in good standing with park and parents. b) Head coach in Spring Rec ball. c) Assistant coach in Spring Rec ball.
2. If there are multiple applicants for a Fall Select Head Coaching position the Board of Directors will review the Coaching Applications and vote as to who will be the Head Coach for that age group. In-person interviews may be requested of the coach applicants.
3. All Fall Select teams, upon request at any time, will provide the South Cherokee Board of Directors a copy of their team’s current and up to date Profit and Loss statement. Also, each Fall Select team will provide to the parents of that team an updated (P&L) statement throughout the season.
4. All team funds collected will be used for team expenses only, and not for personal use.
5. Fall Select teams are prohibited from opening any type of credit accounts in the name of South Cherokee Baseball or SCRA, or use South Cherokee Baseball or SCRA’s Non-Profit Tax ID number for soliciting donations.
6. Head Coach and/or Treasurer of the Fall Select team cannot solicit corporate sponsorship earlier than July 15th. Soliciting private/personal sponsorship is prohibited until selection of teams.
7. Fall Select Head Coaches are responsible for the conduct of all individuals related to his/her team
